About the Castro Cheesery...

The Castro Cheesery opened in 1970 selling fresh local, Italian and traditional cheeses. In 1985, we began importing and selling the coffee that would become known as "The Best Coffee in the Bay Area". We moved to our present location, next to the historic Castro Theatre in 1987. 

We offer a full selection of coffees, organic fair-trade coffee, flavored coffees, and teas. Our mission is to bring you warehouse prices, unmatched quality and the largest selection of fresh roasted gourmet coffees available anywhere! We ship world-wide via UPS and, in addition to whole bean coffee, we can supply the perfect grind for your favorite brewing method. Our beans are sure to please even the most discriminating of palates.  

Stop in and have some of our famous Aroma Di Napoli Espresso or try some of our fresh brewed coffees. We brew 8 different coffees daily, featuring your usual and not-so-usual varieties. You can enjoy a new and different coffee every day of the week!  

Complement your morning brew with one of our fresh muffins and pastries. Don't miss our full service cheese counter where we run regular specials on various cheeses and we feature a nice selection of fresh domestic, imported Italian and other traditional cheeses.
